In an effort to help raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society, South Tower CityPlace is hosting a benefit on Thursday, February 24, 2011.

The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in our 9^th floor amenity deck and will feature a wine tasting with cheese pairings, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Local artisans will also be attending to display their art, jewelry and crafts.

The fundraiser is open to the public with a suggested minimum donation of $10.  All proceeds directly benefit the March 25 Relay for Life at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach.

Katy Gilpatric, a resident of South Tower CityPlace, is spearheading the effort along with fellow residents Monica Goldberg, Chickie Jacobson and Robyn Sherman. Christina Freudenthal, a sales representative in the building, is also assisting with the event.

South Tower CityPlace Couple Helps Condo Residents Relax

Kimberly LaRue grew up in Chicago and was a bachelorette when she moved to West Palm Beach seven years ago. A month after moving to West Palm Beach, she met Eric Holmgren and both their lives changed forever.

Kimberly was a practicing yoga teacher, and Eric a masseuse and personal trainer when they decided to open ShadeTree Yoga & Wellness, a full-service wellness center, four years ago in Lake Worth.

While the word ShadeTree referred to the large trees they discovered in Bali during their annual summer retreats, it also suggested shelter, general well-being and healing.

ShadeTree offers eclectic yoga styles, Active Isolated Stretching (AIS), Mindfulness Meditation Practice, CranioSacral Training, Massage Therapy, Fitness Therapy and Tibetan Sound Healing. Services are available in groups or privately, one-on-one.

Kimberly is an expert in Energy Medicine, Healing Arts, and Meditation. Eric is a massage therapist, personal trainer and is certified RYT 200 in yoga. He is also an expert in Stretch Therapy and works with athletes. Both Kimberly and Eric are insured, registered and certified in their respective fields.

They work with hospice and cancer patients and find the work they do – providing relief through their services, especially rewarding.

Now married, Kimberly and Eric moved to South Tower CityPlace only three months ago. Already, both Eric and the “yoga lady” are popular residents who feel right at home.

Although they looked at different buildings in the West Palm Beach area, Kimberly and Eric decided on South Tower CityPlace because of its many amenities, its airy, loft-feel and its central, downtown location.

“We love that we are so close to everything,” said Kimberly.

The beach, the city’s waterfront, the Greenmarket, public library, Kravitz Center and the West Palm Beach Amphitheater are all moments away. They can also walk or ride their bikes (the building has bike storage) to CityPlace for shopping, fine dining or entertainment.

Another selling point was the fact that South Tower CityPlace was so amenable in allowing them to provide services to their residents.

WEEKLY CLASSES

The couple holds a yoga class every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on either the 9^th-floor amenity deck, “Cloud Nine,” or in the clubroom, depending on the weather. The one-hour yoga classes are only $15 per person or $100 for 10 classes. Contact Kimberly (information below) if you want to attend, so they can keep a running headcount and let you know of any class cancellations.

“Attendees are usually so relaxed afterward that they take a dip in the hot tub, go for a swim, or mingle with other residents,” says Kimberly. One-on-one, private yoga instruction and massage services are also available, as are services for private groups and events, such as spa, bridal and baby showers.

One-day and weekend retreats, as well as longer international retreats, such as their yearly summer Bali trip can also be organized. The couple is currently considering some summer workshops at South Tower CityPlace, as well as hiking retreats.
